The mean house price is now £271,108 according to this year’s Land Registry figures.

Buckinghamshire’s average house price rose by £809 in February to stand at £271,108, the ninth highest average on record.

Since last February Buckinghamshire’s average house price has increased by £11,645 (4.5 per cent), to move within 2 per cent of April 2008’s pre-recession peak of £276,756.

It was a slower season for house sales according to the figures.

There were 791 house sales in Buckinghamshire in December, the fewest transactions for six months but an increase of 17.7 per cent over the last year.

However, the 8,471 houses sold in the year to December 2013 was the highest annual total since the recession. Despite this transactions remain 25.5 per cent below the levels seen in 2007, Buckinghamshire’s house sales have been the 23rd most resilient in the country.
