House prices end 2020 at record high, but pace of growth has slowed

The average UK house price ended 2020 on a record high of £253,374, according to the Halifax House Price Index.
The index showed that house prices in December were 6% higher than in the same month a year earlier.
But the month-on-month price increase of 0.2% was significantly down from the 1% increase seen in November.
