Gone are the days when million-pound properties were the preserve of the super-rich.
With house prices booming, the Land Registry has revealed that, in January, 1,011 homes went for more than £1 million.
Many were in London, but more and more provincial towns and suburbs have become millionaire hotspots.
GWYNETH REES traces 33 homes sold for more than £1 million on just one day: January 31.
Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire: A new development, with six bedrooms and a 30ft-long back garden. Local celebrity residents include former Chelsea footballer Dennis Wise and entertainer Des O'Connor
Compton, Winchester, Hampshire: A detached house with five bedrooms and views over surrounding farmland
Upper Castle Road, St. Mawes, Cornwall: A detached house in sailing hotspot of St Mawes, with four en-suite bedrooms, sun terrace, landscaped gardens, spa and pool. Went for £1.48million in 2007
Docking, King's Lynn, Norfolk: A seven-bed former rectory built in 1873. Five-acre grounds with an orchard, stable, paddock and tennis court. Sold for £1.5million in 2009
