House prices in Gloucestershire down by almost 20 per cent on where they were a decade ago

House prices across much of the country are down on where they were 10 years ago

House prices are down by almost 20 per cent in Gloucestershire on where they were a decade ago, according to research by Savills estate agents.

Property prices in the county shrunk by 18 per cent over the last 10 years once you take into account inflation.

That's only marginally better than neighbouring Wiltshire where house prices are down 19 per cent but considerably worse than neighbouring Oxfordshire where prices dipped by just two per cent.

The best place to own a home, unsurprisingly, is London where prices have gone up by as much as 88 per cent over the last decade.

Energy doesn’t have to be boring. You’ll be surprised by what you can learn.

London and the counties that surround the capital are the only places to have seen actual growth.

The worst places for a drop in house prices are in the north east of England.
